SPRING | SUMMER | AUTUMN | WINTER

Spring (September-November)

Spring is when the ground starts to warm up and the first flush of green growth appears. This is the fastest growing time. Vineyard operations include:

  • Slash cover crop to mulch vine row,
  • Apply herbicide under vine row to remove weeds,
  • Apply mulch under vine row,
  • Broadcast fertilisers across vineyard,
  • Apply dissolved fertiliser through fertigation system,
  • Remove superfluous vine shoots from vine trunk,
  • Apply regular sprays of fungicide to prevent disease,
  • Undertake shoot thinning to reduce crop load,
  • Monitor vineyard for pests and diseases,
  • Lift foliage wires to first, second and third positions,
  • Maintain vineyard records for Quality Assurance system
